- Chris Sommerfelt was invited by Interfaith
to exhibit six paintings during July and August at The Reuss Federal
Building along with nine other artists. Chris was also the featured
artist in August at C’est la Vie Salon at 1913 S. 60th St.
- Joyce Eesley was accepted into the 49th National
Annual aquous media painting exhibit Watercolor U.S.A. which was
held at the Springfield Art Museum in Springfield, MO. The exhibit
ran from June 11 through August 8. Her painting received an award
and was purchased by a patron before the opening reception on
June 11th. Because of exhibiting in this show she was approached
to join (and accepted) the prestigious national Watercolor Honor
Society.
Joyce has another watercolor that has been acceptedinto Philadelphia
Water Color Society “Works on Paper” 110th Anniversary
International Exhibit which runs September 26 to November 14,
2010 in Reading, Pennsylvania. Joyce is a signature member of
PWCS.
Joyce has resigned as editor for Open Canvas with this issue being
the last one she will be editing. It is not a hard position to
hold and she will be willing to help the person who takes over
the position. Knowing how everyone enjoys reading Open Canvas
gaining valuable information about the current and upcoming LMA
events it would be a great loss for all members if we do not have
Open Canvas. Please do your part and contribute to the organization
by volunteering to fill this position.
- Jim Maki is presently exhibiting in Door County
at the Katie Gingrass Gallery in Egg Harbor. ( 1st multi-colored
building on the left as you enter from the south). He won a 1st
place at the WVA show at the Uiehlien Peters Gallery at St. Johns
on the Lake at the April-May show. He is presently exhibiting
at the Shorewood Library, with other Shorewood artists and received
an award ( 3 of us tied for 2nd). Jim also received a 2nd place
award at the Cedarberg Cultural Center Exhibit.
- Liz Minz entered the Rain Barrell painting
contest which was part of the Gathering of the Waters Festival
in June. Her entry, “Racoon Mischief” was selected
as
the winner. Steve Rademan has beem awarded an exhibit at the Leenhouts
Gallery, 1342 N. Astor St., Milwaukee, WI. The opening reception
is from 1:00 - 3:00 pm on Sunday, October 24th.
