SUZANNE ELI-GERMAINE

ARTIST STATEMENT

In making art I choose not to transcribe nor make an exact likeness of the subject.  Rather, I strive to make what I see more exciting, more imaginative and idealistically romantic by laying on color and shapes in a painterly and bold approach.  In all my work I opt for the classic approach; that it is appropriate today and will be relative in years to come.

The painterly approach fulfills my artistic bent and captures the viewers' minds and imaginations.  Thus, my audience is invited to enter the work, "to become part of the art" in spirit.  All of my work tells a story ... therefore the work can be dramatic, surreal, social comment as well as beautiful.  I believe it is not always necessary to "paint a pretty picture."

I paint in my Green Shutters Studio in Franklin and welcome visitors who can call me at 414-423-4335.  I am an Alverno Liberal Studies alum, have exhibited at Wustum, Washington Island Gallery, Waukesha County Court House, Door County, Cedarburg Cultural Center, Alfons Gallery, Alverno College... Libraries...Senior Living Facilities....
